Joining the Atlanta Pipe Band

Membership in the Band is open to persons interested in and dedicated to learning, playing and performing the highland bagpipes and scottish drumming.

The Atlanta Pipe Band currently has two competative units competing in grades 3 and 4 and is always seeking experienced players to become a part of these competitive units. We also offer the piping and drumming lessons through ourAPB Academy, where beginner and intermediate players can learn the basics of Scottish piping and drumming from experienced players. After building enough skill you may then become an Atlanta Pipe Band member, and one day, hopefully, be asked to "step into the circle" of one of our competitive units.

Interested pipers should contact our pipe major, John Recknagel, at APB Pipe Major.

Interested drummers should contact our drum sergeant, Patrick Osborne, at APB Drum Sergeant.

Interested students should contact our Academy/Lessons director, Tommy Burns, at, The APB Academy

We also welcome players at all levels to join us at rehearsal to experience first-hand what we do. We rehearse at two locations. On Thursday evenings we are at Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Atlanta Georgia from 7:00 - 9:00pm. On Sunday afternoons we rehearse outdoors, weather permitting, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Marietta Georgia from 3:00 - 5:00pm. Use the maps below to find your way!
